We have successfully completed our first school year. We provided 20 children in 4 four different schools the opportunity to learn a musical instrument. We would like to thank everyone that donated an instrument, their time and of course their money.
When we began Scaling Barriers we made a promise that the organization would live or die based on the desire of the people in our community. If people choose to support us we will work to provide for as many children as we can. If however, the community does not see fit to support us we will quietly go away.
We have two main needs to operate. First, we need instruments. Without donated instruments there would be no Scaling Barriers. To date we have had around 35 instruments donated and available to be loaned to the schools to help children.
Second, we have a need for funding. We spend very little on office supplies and basic operating cost. The real need for the funds is to clean and repair the instruments prior to each school year.
Our hope is that individuals or groups of individuals will adopt an instrument for its summer repairs and cleaning. The price that is listed on the instrument adoption sheet is directly from the bid we received. Every cent goes to maintaining the instrument.
We know times are tough but a dollar or two from several people can make a difference. We would ask that the members of your organization consider donating instruments no longer in use or grouping together to adopt an instrument. We are always happy to receive donations of any size to help cover the cost of emergency repairs during the school year.
Thank you for considering partnering with us and please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
