We have completed our incorporation as a non-profit in the State of Kansas, and are currently moving forward filing for our 501(c)(3) status. Though we know that we could probably struggle through the process on our own, we feel this is important enough to get it right from the beginning. We cannot start this endeavor without the ability to be totally transparent. If we are going to be asking individuals and businesses to donate instruments and money we have to make sure we get everything right. I would sooner abandon the entire dream than bring into question anyone’s integrity. For that reason, we hope to find an accounting firm that will volunteer to audit our books annually, however, if we have to pay for that service, we will. I can’t stress enough, how important we feel this is, when you are being trusted with other peoples’ money. It appears it will run around $1,500 to $2,000 in filing and legal fees. Keep us in mind, as this is a large sum of money, for my family to come up with. Anyone who knows us is aware that we are doing this out of what little we have, not out of our abundance. We feel very strongly about this endeavor and have faith, that if it is meant to be, people will step up and help.
